Energy Storage

The research covers a range of energy storage technologies and their integration in to the grid.  Technologies investigated include thermal energy storage, electrochemical technologies (supercapatteries, batteries), compressed air technologies and liquid air technologies.  The universities have a critical mass of complementary expertise around 30 academic staff members active in this area.
